About
The Full Story
The Newport Yemeni Community Association (NYCA) is a charity based in Pillgwenlly (“Pill”), Newport a place rich in culture and diversity, but also one that faces serious challenges. Pillgwenlly is among the most deprived areas in Wales, with high levels of crime, poverty, anti-social behaviour, low income and unemployment.
We were founded to respond to those challenges. We provide support in education, employment, health and wellbeing, especially for young people and families, creating spaces where everyone in Pill can feel safe, respected, and able to thrive.
NYCA believes in building connection and opportunity offering real help where it's needed, working with local people, and transforming negative stereotypes into positive change.

Mission
At NYCA, our mission is to empower individuals and families by providing opportunities for education, personal growth, and community connection. We aim to promote cultural understanding, support wellbeing, and create a safe, inclusive environment where everyone can thrive and feel a sense of belonging
Vision
Our vision is to see a stronger, safer, and more united Pillgwenlly a community where opportunity overcomes hardship. While Pill has faced challenges such as poverty, limited resources, and social inequality, NYCA strives to create positive change through education, empowerment, and collaboration. We aim to build a future where every resident feels valued, supported, and proud to call Pill home.
